The Royal Château d'Amboise is just a short walk uphill from the hotel, its ramparts rising 40m above the Loire with richly decorated Renaissance interiors and the Saint-Hubert chapel, which houses the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci. Le Clos Lucé, da Vinci's final residence, is around 10–15 minutes' walk inland, with furnished period rooms, underground exhibition spaces and a garden featuring large-scale models of his inventions. The charming Château Gaillard, a Renaissance estate with terraced citrus gardens and an elegant orangery, is roughly 15–20 minutes' walk or a short drive from the hotel. The mediaeval lanes and Clock Tower of Amboise's old town are immediately behind the hotel, with restaurants, cafés, and small shops clustered around the Tour de l'Horloge gateway. The Château de Chenonceau, spanning the River Cher on its famous arched gallery, lies around 20 minutes' drive south-east, and the Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire – with its hilltop setting and acclaimed annual garden festival – is approximately 20–25 minutes downstream. For a full-day excursion, the Château de Chambord, the largest of the Loire châteaux, with its remarkable double-helix staircase and vast park, is about an hour's drive east.

Luxury bespoke hotel holidays to Relais d'Amboise, Amboise
Standing on the Loire riverbank between the Royal Château d'Amboise and Le Clos Lucé, the five-starRelais d'Amboise opened in 2026 on the site of 18th century manor houses and historic terraced gardens that descend from the castle ramparts to the water's edge. The tuffeau stone façades are characteristic of the Loire Valley's traditional architecture, and the interior design – a contemporary response to the humanist values of the Renaissance – prioritises light, natural materials, and handcrafted detail over ostentatious decoration. The 63 rooms and suites are spread across the main manor building and annexes arranged around courtyards and garden terraces, with higher-category rooms and suites looking directly over the Loire and the château, and several suites offering separate living areas. Throughout, the style is consistent: neutral tones, natural woods and textiles, bespoke furniture, and carefully chosen contemporary art. The bistronomic restaurant draws on seasonal local produce – freshwater fish, poultry, regional vegetables, and cheeses – for refined, relaxed menus rooted in the flavours of the Loire, and the rooftop terrace provides panoramic views over Amboise's skyline for cocktails and lighter bites. A standout feature of the hotel is its troglodyte spa, carved directly into the limestone cliff, with treatment rooms hewn from the rock, a sauna and hammam, and treatments using grape-based and herbal Loire Valley products. A seasonal outdoor pool and landscaped terraced gardens complete the leisure offering, with direct access to riverside walks along the Loire. The Relais d'Amboise is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World group.
