Luxury bespoke hotel holidays to Chateau Louise de La Valliere, Loire Valley
Named after Louise de La Vallière, future Duchess and great love of Louis XIV, Château Louise de La Vallière is a 16th century château reborn as an intimate luxury hotel in the forested countryside between Tours and Amboise. Celebrated decorator Jacques Garcia has reimagined the interiors with theatrical style, combining deep colours, historic portraits, tapestries and bespoke furnishings to evoke the sensual splendour of the ancien régime. 20 individually designed rooms and suites, including 11 grand suites, pay tribute to famous royal favourites, blending period inspiration with discreet contemporary comforts. A 20-hectare park invites unhurried walks beneath 200-year-old trees, past a conservatory of fig trees - Louis XIV's favourite fruit - and through a rose garden planted with "Madame de La Vallière" varieties. Guests can wander towards the lake, follow paths into the surrounding forest or pause in quiet corners to enjoy the tranquillity of this UNESCO-listed cultural landscape. The gourmet restaurant L'Amphitryon revisits 17th century inspirations with refined contemporary French cuisine, with more casual dining available in the Château's salons or bistro spaces. Seasonal produce from the region, Loire Valley wines, and a highly atmospheric candlelit setting turn dinner into a time-travelling experience that nods to the lavish banquets of the Sun King's court. The spa, La Rosée, named after Louise's nickname, occupies a serene area of the estate and offers Biologique Recherche treatments in cabins opening onto nature. Massage rituals, facials, and body treatments are complemented by time beside the heated outdoor pool and quiet relaxation in lounges that continue the château's opulent aesthetic. Throughout the stay, staff dressed in 17th century inspired attire and butler-style service reinforce the feeling of stepping into another era, whilst bespoke experiences such as private tastings, exclusive château visits or carriage-style excursions can be organised on request.
