Luxury bespoke holidays and tours to Villa Galici, Aix-en-Provence

The five-star Villa Gallici lies just a stone's throw from the centre of the spa town of Aix-en-Provence, set at the foot of the Sainte Victoire hillside which provided inspiration to the notable likes of Cézanne and Zola. Set in an 18th century villa amidst seven acres of dense, verdant Florentine gardens infused with the smell of lavender and shaded by century-old plane and cypress trees, Villa Gallici, a Relais & Châteaux property, exudes charm and sophistication in abundance, from its interiors, richly decorated in sumptuous French fabrics and flamboyant, lavishly-styled bar to its opulent restaurant. Individually and immaculately appointed, the 22 rooms and suites at Villa Gallici offer refined and elegant accommodation, some decorated in soft, subtle tones, others offering a bright and bold palette, yet all absolutely beautiful. With the soothing fragrance of lavender drifting up from the garden, the rooms offer a most comfortable environment in which to stay. At the hotel's restaurant a flavoursome menu that infuses the traditional with the exotic is served on the romantic candlelit terrace under the plane trees in fine weather. Villa Gallici also offers an inviting outdoor swimming pool and makes for the perfect base from which to explore the many delights of Aix and the surrounding region. Villa Gallici is deservedly Aix-en-Provence's first five-star hotel.

The journey and how you get there

For a holiday to Hotel La Villa Gallici, our clients fly to Marseille or Nice and then usually have the use of a hire-car for the duration of the holiday, or they arrive in their own car on a self-drive holiday, often as part of a multi-centre touring holiday (we would include a Eurotunnel crossing or a ferry crossing, depending on the itinerary), or they arrive by train, having taken the Eurostar London to Paris or Lille, and then the TGV to Avignon, Aix-en-Provence or Nice. On some dates there is a direct service of the Eurostar from London to Avignon. From the railway station, if you are visiting more than one hotel or want to explore the region, we recommend having a hire-car. We will arrange this for you.

About Provence

An Expressions tailor-made holiday to Provence, the land which is the ancient province of the Romans, offers a rich tapestry of landscapes, culture and traditions. From the sunflower fields of Van Gogh`s Arles, to the sandy marshes of the Camargue, from the Cezanne like landscapes of Aix inland to the olive groves and lavender beds that surround the perched hill top villages, and finally to the dramatic coastline of the azure Mediterranean where the sandy beaches, craggy corniches and fishing villages have been transformed into a sophisticated holiday playground you experience a multitude of contrasting and complementary senses and images. The perfumes of lavender, thyme, rosemary, citrus, pine and olive mingle in the air and the light is bright and clear. Add to all these sensations a wonderful climate, good food and local wine and unlimited sporting and sightseeing activities and you can understand why Provence is not just an ideal holiday destination but a romantic way of life. Provence still has miles of open road across country, tiny, sleepy villages, dramatic hills and craggy peaks, beautiful, sense enriching panoramas and aromas all waiting for you to explore and enjoy.

Highlights of Provence

Cultural highlights include santons, Souleiado Provençal fabrics, herbs and lavender, wine and olive oil, melons and pastis, boules and berets.
