Hotel Urso occupies a distinguished neo-classical palace built in 1915 by architect José María Mendoza Ussía. It centres upon a 500sqm inner courtyard, where historic facades blend with modern glass and steel in a serene yet social space. Spanish architect Antonio Obrador led the 2014 restoration, creating 78 rooms and suites distributed across the palace’s elegant floors. Interiors reflect the Belle Époque period through high-ceilings, stained-glass windows, and period details, complemented by contemporary furnishings in neutral tones and sleek marble bathrooms. Casa Felisa, the hotel’s restaurant, celebrates traditional Spanish cuisine with dishes rooted in recipes passed down through generations. The menu features seasonal ingredients prepared with respect for authentic flavours, from Galician seafood to Iberian meats. Breakfast is served in the Conservatory, a light-filled space adorned with stained-glass windows and a vertical garden that establishes an almost botanical atmosphere. Live piano performances fill the hotel bar in the evenings. The URSO Spa by Natura Bissé is Madrid’s first branded luxury hotel spa, offering treatments that incorporate the Barcelona-based skincare house’s signature products and techniques. The 12 metre indoor pool, illuminated by natural light, provides a tranquil space for swimming. Some of Madrid’s most vibrant and distinctive neighbourhoods surround the hotel, providing access to the city’s beloved cultural sights and character. Chueca, known for its boutique fashion shops, Malasaña for its vintage shops, designers, and nightlife, and Chamberí for its peaceful residential feel and excellent restaurants.
