Residence Maldives comprises 94 thatched villas built in a traditional Maldivian style designed to seamlessly blend into their natural island environment. Airy and infused with an abundance of natural light, the villas blend colonial sophistication with contemporary style where bespoke furnishings are complemented by local curios and artworks. Amidst verdant surroundings, beachfront villas at the Residence Maldives offer a true 'sand between the toes' experience with a cosy veranda leading out from the spacious living room boasting expansive views of the ocean. The over-water villas meanwhile allow you to slip straight from your private deck into the cool, clear surrounding waters teeming with lively schools of fish and vivid coral reefs. Overlooking the beach and partially submerged in the swimming pool, the beach bar is the focal point of the resort and serves light meals and island-style drinks, whilst the Dining Room offers a casual setting for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving Asian and Indian-Ocean inspired cuisine with a contemporary twist. The Falhumaa meanwhile is a spectacular overwater venue located at the end of a 230-metre jetty overlooking the colourful reef. The journey and how you get there

For a holiday to The Residence Maldives, the Maldives, Expressions Holidays includes flights from London to Male with British Airways direct (winter season only) or Emirates via Dubai. The flying time is about 13 hours. The Residence Maldives is reached by an onward domestic flight to Kooddoo Airport from Male and a 10 minute speedboat transfer. Expressions Holidays will include the onward flight and speedboat transfer in your holiday price.

Additional information

Minimum stays: Minimum stay of 4 nights from 23 December to 6 January.

Children: Children under 3 years can stay in a cot free of charge and rollaway beds can be added for older children. Under 13s receive complimentary breakfast and eat at 50% the menu price in the restaurants when eating with parent/s. A kids' club is available from 10:00 to 17:30.

Other information: A compulsory supplement is required for stays over the festive season to cover the Christmas Eve Dinner (24/12) and New Year's Eve Dinner (31/12).

Highlights of the Maldives

For many, the Maldives offer some of the most fascinating underwater exploration available, from both snorkelling and diving. There are over a hundred different species of fish, from angelfish to flying fish, snapper and triggerfish, stingray and shark, as well as turtles and numerous corals of a multitude of colours. If your resort is near Malé then the capital is worth a brief visit with its mosques, traditional houses with rounded corners and tea shops with a selection of ‘short eats’ including rice pudding, curried fish cakes and small bananas.

The Residence Mauritius is located on the east coast of the island which is well known for its beautiful beaches. Expressions Holidays recommends this resort for its beautiful beachfront location as well as the friendly and stylish atmosphere. The children's club and nursery are great for young families, as a broad range of activities are on offer, from beach games and crab hunting to trips to the water park and pony rides. Teenagers will be occupied with the range of water sports. Adults will also enjoy these activities plus the fabulous spa. The village of Flacq is only fifteen minutes away from the Residence Mauritius by car and is home to the country’s largest open air market. Families will enjoy trips to the Waterpark Leisure Village and Belle Mare Beach.

Children's clubs

The Kids' Club is open from 11am to 4pm and is available for children aged 3 to 12 on a complimentary basis.

Children's entertainment

Families can make the most of the CD, DVD and book library, where board games are also available. The kids' club is available to keep the children entertained during the day. For older children there is also an internet corner. Children over 8 may learn to Scuba Diva at a charge and excursions to nearby islands, where you can explore lagoons and reefs for dolphins, may be purchased. Excursions must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. The Spa offers a Junior Glow treatment for children that includes a Swedish massage and facial followed by ice-cream and children's yoga.

There is an island doctor and there are two hospitals on Malé.

Families are allowed in all of the restaurants at present. There is a children's menu on offer at The Dining Room.

Family rooms

The Residence Maldives offers 94 beach and water villas. Some have private swimming pools but all room categories boast a private sun deck or veranda with sun loungers. One Bedroom Beach Villas accommodate 2 adults and 1 child under 16, and Two Bedroom Beach Villas hold 2 adults and 2 children. For safety reasons, children under the age of 13 years are not permitted in the water villas. Children under 3 years can stay in a cot free of charge.
