Baros Maldives is ringed by a house reef teeming with marine life, in the shimmering waters of a shallow lagoon. Elegant villas, created from timber and sandstone, are poised over the translucent lagoon or nestled discreetly among exotic blooms by the beach, ensuring perfect privacy and seclusion. The villas include relaxing daybeds, Lavazza espresso machines and a personal wine chiller with bottles selected on arrival. There are no motorised water sports close to the resort, nor a main pool area, thus evoking an atmosphere of pure tranquillity. One of the highlights of Baros is The Lighthouse, a contemporary fine dining restaurant showcasing the freshest seafood as well as modern fusion cuisine. An elegant Martini and Champagne bar offers 360-degree views of the ocean accompanied by the light sounds of jazz. There are also two other original dining venues and a cocktail bar. Baros Maldives is an excellent choice for snorkellers and divers who can enjoy a 'diving by design' in this amazing oceanographic environment. The dive team works closely with the resident Marine Biologist who conducts awareness presentations and leads snorkel and reef tours. Water sports include canoeing, catamaran sailing, windsurfing and even coral planting. The relaxing spa offers a wide variety of treatments and daily yoga classes are held in the air-conditioned overwater pavilion or on a private sand bank in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Alongside all the activities on the island, it is also possible to arrange excursions on a traditional dhoni or luxury motor yacht to include dolphin-spotting, fishing or just purely relaxing. The resort's 19-metre Dhoni offers the opportunity for romantic sunset dinners or private snorkelling trips for two. Another highlight is a private sandbank picnic. The journey and how you get there

For a holiday to Baros, the Maldives, Expressions Holidays includes flights from London to Male with British Airways direct (winter season only) or Emirates via Dubai. The flying time is about 13 hours. Baros is reached from Male airport by speedboat in about 25 minutes and Expressions Holidays includes the speedboat transfer in your holiday price.

Minimum stays: Minimum stay of 5 nights from 26 December to 10 January.

Children: Only children over the age of 8 are accepted in the resort. Reductions are available for children aged 8 to 12 years when sharing with two adults.The total occupancy for each villa is 2 adults and 1 child, or 1 adult and 2 children maximum. It is recommended that families with children do not stay in Water Villas, however, if accommodated there parents must take full responsibility for their children.

Other information: A compulsory supplement is required for the Christmas and New Years' Eve Gala Dinners.
