Luxury bespoke hotel holidays to Chateau Monfort, Milan
Designed in 1903 by Paolo Mezzanotte, and originally built as a private residential palace, Château Monfort appears as a five-star urban castle. The Liberty (Art Nouveau) facade and original staircase were carefully preserved when the building was converted into a hotel following three years of renovation, and the inscribed "Salve" welcome in the lobby floor remains intact. The interiors take a very different direction: a neo-Romantic world drawn from fairytales, opera, and ballet, with pastel colours, butterfly motifs, floor mosaics, and custom-made wooden furnishings throughout. Each of the 77 rooms is unique, ranging from the fairytale "Civetta" Superior rooms to opera-inspired suites referencing La Bohème, Turandot, and Cenerentola, with some attic suites offering skylights with a view of the stars. The Rubacuori restaurant — whose name translates as "heartstealer" — serves contemporary Italian cuisine rooted in Lombard tradition, with Executive Chef Domenico Mozzillo drawing on organic and regional produce; the signature dish is a saffron raviolo with ossobuco. Guests move between three atmospheric dining spaces: the mirrored dinner salon, the relaxed Sala della Caccia, and the Alice in Wonderland-inspired breakfast room. Bar Mezzanotte, named in tribute to the palace's architect, and covered by a crystal dome above the original courtyard, is open almost 24 hours a day. The Spa Amore e Psiche, renovated in 2022 and recognised by Forbes as the best spa and wellness hotel in Milan, provides a chromotherapy pool, hammam, sauna, and a full treatment menu. The Château Monfort is a bubble of tranquility, relaxation, and indulgence amidst the bustle of one of Italy's most famous cities.
