On the edge of Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park, this wilderness retreat is superbly set amongst mirror lakes, forests and towering mountains. The Lodge and its cabins have been designed to work harmoniously with the superb natural environment, built in a rustic style primarily out of timber and stone. Open fires provide warmth away from the elements, not only in the Lodge but also in the individual log cabins. The cabins provide cosy accommodation and are decorated in an understated style that reflects the character of the mountains, with wide windows from which to enjoy the spectacular situation. Guests can enjoy meals in the celebrated Highland Restaurant, which features the very best of Tasmanian food and wine, or for a more relaxed occasion, bistro-style meals are served in the Tavern Bar and Bistro. There are extensive activities on offer to guests, such as over twenty guided walking tracks around the National Park, native animal night viewing tours and mountain bike hire. In summer, guests can participate in canoeing on Dove Lake or fly-fishing tuition, and in winter, activities include tobogganing and a snow shuttle. A wonderful retreat in a most dramatic location.

The journey and how you get there

For a holiday to Cradle Mountain Lodge in Lake St Clair National Park in the North West Tasmanian Wilderness, Expressions Holidays includes flights from London to Australia with British Airways or Qantas and then onward domestic flights with Qantas to Hobart. All international airports in Australia are served by a range of airlines and the chosen airline will depend upon any stopovers you might want to make en-route to Australia. Hobart is served by flights from the major airports in mainland Australia, the closest of which is Melbourne (with a flying time of 1 hour and 15 minutes). Cradle Mountain Lodge is a a 4 hour and 30-minute drive from Hobart. Expressions Holidays recommends the use of a hire-car for visiting this hotel, and we will include that in the price of your holiday, although private car transfers can be provided as an alternative.
