Explore the magic of Tea Country, camp in luxury under the stars, swim in your private plunge pool and stroll along Indian Ocean beaches. Day 1 - Arrive Colombo
On arrival in Sri Lanka, you will be driven by your English-speaking chauffeur guide in an air-conditioned vehicle (approximately 1 hour drive) to Park Street for one night.

Day 2 - Colombo to Tea Country
Head east from Colombo into the cooler mountains to the heart of the tea country (approximately 5 hours drive). See the curious ‘Little England’ hill station of Nuwara Eliya, with its racecourse, golf course, lake and British colonial buildings. Continue on to stay for three nights in one or more of the Ceylon Tea Trails bungalows.

Days 3 and 4 - Tea Country
Follow the trails of the planters of Old Ceylon and watch the tea pluckers. The staff at Ceylon Tea Trails will recommend circular routes from 2 km upwards or you can follow a trail one way and arrange to be transported back. For a few days of pleasant hill walking, follow the Tea Trail from one bungalow to the next, staying a night or two at each place. A visit to a tea factory reveals how the leaves are dried and processed. Tea Trails’ resident Tea Planter will show you first hand the tea-making process, ending with a tasting of different grades of the great brew.
Day 5 - Tea Country to Uda Walawe
Depart for Uda Walawe National Park (approximately 4 to 5 hours drive). This dry terrain is an ideal habitat for seeing elephants in the wild and good for bird-watching too. There is an Elephant Transit Home near the entrance to the national park (separate fee), where you can see young elephants roaming free in a large field, and flocking into the feeding enclosure for meal times. Stay in a Luxury Tented Camp for two nights, set up just for you.

Day 6 - Uda Walawe National Park
Tour the park by jeep in the morning and afternoon. A naturalist will pass on detailed knowledge about the environment, mammals, birds, trees, butterflies and insects.
Day 7 - Uda Walawe to Tangalle
In the morning, depart for Tangalle (approximately 2 hours drive). Check-in to the luxurious Amanwella for 3 nights.

Days 8 and 9 -Tangalle
Spend lazy days in the pool or spa, strolling along the beach and sampling delicious cuisine. Alternatively, take an optional day excursion to Yala or Bundala National Parks for some wildlife viewing or visit the turtle conservation project at Rekawa.
Day 10 - Tangalle to Galle
Head along the coast to historic Galle (approximately 2 hours) and check-in to the Amangalle for two nights.

Day 11 - Galle
Explore fascinating Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk around the ramparts and indulge in some shopping. You may wish to visit the Dutch Reformed Church or Maritime Museum or take an optional air balloon ride (December to April).
Days 12 to 14 - Galle to Wadduwa
Depart Galle and head north along the coast to Wadduwa (approximately 2 hours drive) and check-in to the delightful Serene Pavilions for three nights. Relax on your private sundeck or by the central pool, taking a stroll along the golden beach or enjoying a tailor-made treatment at the spa. Whilst here you may wish to take optional trips to Bentota for water sports or visiting the Brief Garden or Colombo for some shopping.

Day 15 – Departure from Colombo
Transfer to the airport (approximately 1.5 hours drive) for your departure.
Prices from about £4495 per person for the above tour including scheduled return flights in economy class with Sri Lankan Airways London to Colombo, a car with English-speaking chauffeur guide, entrance fees and sightseeing as specified, accommodation on a bed & breakfast basis (unless otherwise specified).

We can include a Mark II car, a Japanese car or a Mercedes, at varying costs. Entrance fees for places you want to visit will be included in your holiday price.
