Tailor-made for you, your garden tour of the Italian Lakes region will encompass stays on both Lake Como and Lake Maggiore – lakes which have a distinctly alpine feel and luxuriant vegetation. For the first part of your Italian lakes garden tour we suggest spending 3 nights on Lake Como at the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni at Bellagio. From here you can easily visit Villa Melzi d’Eril at Bellagio and Villa Balbianello nearby.
Just across the lake is the famous Villa Carlotta and nearby the gardens of the magnificent Villa d’Este. Less well-known gardens around Lake Como which could also be included in your Italian Lakes garden tour are the Giardini di Villa Monastero and the Giardini di Villa Cipressi at Varenna, which can both be reached by boat from Bellagio.
The second part of your Italian Lakes garden tour takes you to Lake Maggiore where you will stay at the Villa Aminta for 3 nights. Here your garden tour gives you a chance to visit the world famous gardens of Isola Bella in the lake, as well as the gardens of the Villa Taranto in nearby Verbania and the Villa San Remigio in Pallanza. Other gardens featured on your Italian Lakes garden tour include those of the Villa Casanova Scotti, the Villa Rusconi Cierici and the Villa Scagliola.
Included in your holiday are three nights stay in a Type A room at the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni and three nights stay in a Type A room at the Villa Aminta; return flights with British Airways from London to Milan, hire of a basic group car for 6 days and a full set of notes to accompany each itinerary.
