Cycling Holidays in Tuscany
The Tuscan countryside is rich with natural beauty and full of reminders of its ancient Etruscan heritage; here intricate mosaics and detailed frescos once adorned grand palaces and temples and where today only fragments remain.

Mugello region
To discover a completely different part of Tuscany, visit the Mugello region to the north-east of Florence. From your base at the charming Hotel Villa Campestri you have a choice of three possible cycling tours to follow depending on your level of fitness. We provide an experienced local guide to assess your fitness and ability. Each offers panoramic views over rolling countryside where the sound of silence is broken only by the sound of bells from medieval church towers and the lazy hum of bees collecting nectar from their flowers.
Route 1 – Moderately easy
This is the Castles cycling tour – so called because of all the castles you’ll see en route. On a route of about 40kms which takes in the beautiful Mugello valley, stop to take in the sights of Scarperia, Cafaggiolo Trebbio Castles.
Route 2 – Moderately difficult
The 50kms Giogo Tour starts by following an ancient Etruscan road onto the Giogo pass which follows a ridge that separates Tuscany from neighbouring Romagna. It's downhill all the way back!
Route 3 – Challenging
The 50kms Mount Senario Sanctuary tour takes you to the top of Mount Senario to visit an ancient monastic sanctuary. There is an exciting 3kms downhill descent through chestnut forests to the Benedictine Buonsollazzo Abbey for refreshments.
