Our opinion
The Westin Costa Navarino is a real haven for children and offers a wide range of accommodation specifically for families.
Hotel description
Located just 200 metres from the sea, the Westin Resort, in Messinia, on the west coast of the Pelopponese peninsular, offers spectacular facilities in beautiful surroundings.
Inspired by the traditional Messinian mansions, the resort’s buildings are built in natural stone, using local design in keeping with the beautiful surrounding scenery. There are lush gardens leading down to the pristine sandy beach and the resort benefits from a wide range of activities for both children and adults alike.
At the centre of the resort is the Agora, which is styled along the lines of an authentic village and features exclusive shops, an open air cinema, a variety of cafes, numerous bars and restaurants and even a traditional Greek Amphitheatre.
There are two excellent children’s clubs which offer full day and half day sessions: The Cocoon Club caters for infants and toddlers from 8 months to 4 years old and focuses very much on imaginative learning and playing, singing and dancing, painting, collage and story telling. The club provides food at lunchtime included in the cost. The children play and learn in age groups from 8 – 18months and from 18 months to 4 year olds.
The Sandcastle Club caters for children from 4 to 12 years old and offers a range of activities from table games to painting and exploring the surrounding countryside extending their knowledge of the local area and culture and there is also an Aqua Park with three slides and a play pool. In addition there are indoor facilities such as Basketball, Volleyball and table tennis and there is an American Diner restaurant with a bowling alley, pool tables and playstation consoles.
The ‘Anazoe’ Spa offers a serene sanctuary with an exceptional menu of speciality treatments based on ancient health and beauty practices. The spa uses natural ingredients gathered from the surrounding area and there are both indoor and outdoor treatment areas as well as hydrotherapy and floating pools. The spa even offers treatments specifically designed for children!
For adults, there are numerous sporting options including two tennis courts, mountaineering, canoeing and archery as well as many water-related sports and recreational activities. Indoor options offered by a cutting-edge sports centre include bowling, squash and basketball, as well as extensive areas for yoga and workout classes.
The Westin is a real haven for children and offers a wide range of accommodation specifically for families. Coupled with their attention to detail when it comes to all things ‘kiddy friendly’, this is the perfect retreat for families.

Out and aboutnearby/local interest
There are so many places to visit in the area, covering over 4,500 years of different civilisations that you are really spoilt for choice.
The following are just a few suggestions:
Navarino Bay was the scene of the famous 1827 naval battle in which an allied British, French and Russian armada defeated the Turkish-Egyptian fleet marking a decisive turning point in the Greek War of Independence. This was the last major naval battle in the world fought entirely with sailing ships. 5 mins by car – reachable on foot.
The Palace of Nestor is only 13kms away and is a unique two-storey Mycenean palace which was discovered in 1939. This is where the first evidence of the first known written language, Linear B, was discovered.
Ancient Messini was built in 369 BC and is about 55kms away. The site is still being unearthed by archeologists, but it is possible to visit the gymnasium, the theatre and one of the best preserved ancient stadiums still in existence.
For the truly adventurous, Ancient Olympia is about 140kms away. This is where the first Olympic Games were held in 776BC.
