Hotel description
An idyllic sanctuary amongst a 550 million year old virgin rainforest, The Datai is situated on the north-western tip of the beautiful Malay island of Langkawi. The resort has been largely crafted from local materials and blends into the rainforest backdrop marvellously. The interiors are contemporary yet undeniably Malay, making use of dark wood and rich colours to provide a warm and welcoming retreat. The resort faces the turquoise Andaman Sea and is positioned above a secluded cove and its own sandy beach. One of the two swimming pools enjoys a superb position elevated among the rainforest canopy, surrounded by a terrace from which to revel in the breathtaking views. The Datai has extensive facilities including nature walks with the resident naturalist, mountain bikes for exploring the island and a watersports pavilion. The Mandara Spa is made up of four pavilions offering a range of treatments including the Datai Massage in which two massage therapists work in synchronisation. The Pavilion is one of the resort’s three restaurants, serving authentic Thai food in an elevated, open air setting high up in the forest canopy. Set amongst the verdant rainforest, the guestrooms are located in the main building and in villas. The ample living and sleeping space is decorated in rich colours with wood furnishings that work harmoniously with the environment. Perfect for couples.
