Hotel Su Gologone is a charming rural hotel which offers a wonderful introduction to Sardinian culture and cuisine.
Hotel description
Sardinia is known for its stunning beaches, but the dramatic beauty of its inland countryside is also well worth experiencing. Hotel Su Gologone is located at the foot of the rugged Supramonte mountains, overlooking a silent landscape of olive trees, oaks and wild flowers. Designed in keeping with the local architecture, its whitewashed exterior is set off by a terracotta roof and bright blue shutters on the windows. The Hotel Su Gologone is set amongst flower-filled gardens and a lawned terrace is the large, spring-fed swimming pool, or for sea swimming guests can travel twelve miles to the coastal village of Dorgali. Local materials and craftsmanship have been used in decorating the welcoming interiors, as illustrated in the slanting beamed ceilings, in the hand-made fabrics and antique wooden furniture and in the paintings by Biasi, a talented Sardinian artist. Many of the individually decorated bedrooms are situated in separate cottages in the gardens and several have a balcony or terrace looking out over the magnificent mountain scenery. The Hotel Su Gologone's restaurant is deservedly famous for its exceptional regional cuisine; secret recipes handed down from generation to generation are used to make delicacies such as aromatic meat slowly roasted over a spit and home-made pasta in deliciously rich sauces, all accompanied by the full-bodied wine of Oliena. The friendly and helpful staff can organise local excursions by Landrover during which you can enjoy a picnic lunch in the midst of the rural scenery. The Hotel Su Gologone exudes traditional Sardinian charm and would be a great property to combine with one of our hotels on the coast.
