The Excelsior Vittoria is a traditional Grand Hotel in a superb position with splendid grounds.
Hotel description
Built in 1834, and now celebrating 170 years of hospitality, the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria in Sorrento was conceived to be one of Europe's most glamorous hotels and over the years has welcomed many of the world's celebrities. Situated at the heart of Sorrento with its entrance just off the main square, Piazza Tasso, this 19th Century villa is surrounded by extensive and beautiful gardens containing lemon and orange trees as well as a colourful array of flowers. Its outstanding position on a cliff fifty metres above the harbour means that splendid views over the Bay of Naples can be enjoyed from both the grounds and many of the rooms in the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria. The lounges and dining room are on a grand scale and have wonderfully intricate frescoed ceilings, marble columns and ornate stucco mouldings. Guests preferring to eat outside can take advantage of the spacious terrace with its breathtaking vista or enjoy a light snack on the terrace by the swimming pool. Bedrooms are situated in three interconnected buildings and are decorated in Belle Epoque style, many with original furniture, and overlook either the sea or the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria's beautiful gardens. Suites are available on request. An added advantage is the lift on the terrace behind the hotel which takes guests directly to the harbour below, where ferries depart for Naples, Capri and Ischia.
