    Our opinion

At LUX* Grand Gaube, the thatched-roof architecture gracefully follows the coast as it curves into secluded coves

    Hotel description

Set on a sandy bay that stretches towards the horizon in northeast Mauritius, LUX* Grand Gaube was built on feng shui principles, with the objective to work in harmony with its surroundings. This can immediately be seen in the thatched-roof architecture that gracefully follows the coast as it curves into secluded coves, and in the discreet and tasteful interior decorations. In keeping with feng shui principles, the resort is committed to the well-being of body and mind, providing plentiful space for rest and relaxation, but also offering an extensive range of activities that utilise its wonderful setting. Windsurfing, snorkelling and kayaking can all be enjoyed free of charge, alongside tennis, mini-golf and beach volleyball. There are some wonderful opportunities available at an additional cost that will allow you to explore the rich natural area that surrounds, from PADI scuba diving to power boat trips and mountain bike hire. Qi Spa combines a Thalasso and a spa to create a wonderful space to relax and revitalise. You can enjoy a wide array of treatments in the five massage rooms, from the four-handed ylang-ylang massage that stimulates circulation, to the wonderful Oriental Beauty treatment, which involves a combination of Hammam relaxation and soothing face and body treatments using blend of natural exotic ingredients. With five restaurants, Grand Gaube guarantees plentiful choice for dining throughout the day. Mediterranean cuisine can be enjoyed for lunch at La Bastide, the beach bar and grill, whilst in Abalone, the freshest seafood is served, from oysters to crayfish. The resort’s prestige dining room is Karma House, which specialises in ‘east meets west’ cuisine and has an outdoor terrace and a walk-in wine cellar, creating an refined yet relaxed ambience. The guestrooms are set away from the main building in three-storey buildings that stretch along the beach. Each bedroom has been beautifully designed to reflect a feng shui element: water, metal, fire, wood and earth. The junior suites are recommended for their spaciousness and the sea view, which can be appreciated from their attached private terrace or balcony. LUX* Grand Gaube has a charming ambience and offers excellent standards of accommodation and facilities.
