Our opinion
The One and Only Le Touessrok offers contemporary style, elegant luxury and a magnificent tropical ambience
Hotel description
Striking in its proximity to the sea, Le Touessrok enjoys a scenic location surrounded by lush gardens. Built in a whitewashed Mediterranean village style, the resort retains a local feel with traditional Mauritian-style roofs. The interiors blend bright contemporary style with Mauritian flavour, using teak furniture and vibrant artwork to create a welcoming ambience. This is a spacious resort that spreads out from the mainland to Frangipani Island, joined by a spectacular wooden bridge. The resort has a number of beautiful beaches and access to two islands – the private Ilot Mangenie and the public Ile aux Cerfs. Ilot Mangenie is a delight – you step off the hotel boat onto the jetty and are greeted by a fresh, cold towel. Sun loungers are ready with towels on the soft white sand and there is a lunch restaurant, a bar and a beach bar service offering drinks and snacks. The Ile aux Cerfs is the base for the boat house and the hotel’s water sports, and the hotel boat takes guests to and from the island regularly. There is also public access to this island and it is generally much livelier with a range of stalls, restaurants and bars. Located across a coral lagoon from the resort is the 18-hole championship golf course, which is reached by a ‘golfing special’ water taxi. Activities and facilities in the hotel’s grounds include four floodlit tennis courts and a luxurious Givenchy Spa that is ideal for a little pampering in a tranquil environment. The resort has three superb restaurants, including Safran, which draws upon the island’s Indian heritage to serve timeless Indian cuisine in elegant and evocative surroundings. Alternatively, for something a little more casual, Barlen’s Restaurant offers contemporary east-meets-west dishes against the dynamic backdrop of an exceptional show kitchen. The guestrooms are furnished with subtle touches of local flavour, such as decorative carved wooden screens, vertical wood shutters and rich colours and textures. The Ocean Suites ensure complete luxury, with a sea-facing terrace or balcony and 24-hour butler service that includes unpacking and packing of your luggage and in-room dining. Le Touessrok has contemporary style, elegant luxury and a magnificent tropical ambience, complimented by superb service and an excellent range of activities.
