Soneva Fushi is a first-class, world-renowned private island resort, full of eclectic style and barefoot luxury, which thoroughly complements its stunning natural surroundings on the Maldivian island of Kunfunadhoo. At 1,400 metres long and about 400 metres wide, Kunfunadhoo is one of the largest islands in the Maldives, and Soneva Fushi’s architects have worked carefully to combine the luxury of space, easy beach access and privacy. The island is large enough to explore and really get away from it all, perhaps by bicycle or along the hidden jogging trails that criss-cross luxuriant tropical vegetation. The 65 spacious rooms with thick white-washed walls, wooden or sandstone floors, beamed ceilings and thatched roofs are furnished with stylishly rustic chairs and tables. Rattan and coconut wood hide modern-day conveniences such as the safe, hairdryer and hi-fi. The colours are natural, with shades of cinnamon and turmeric adding pinches of spice to the whites and browns. The rooms are all just a few steps from the beach. The resort has a large number of different room types, which we just do not have the space to describe in detail here but can provide more information on request. The island is surrounded by a shallow lagoon of clear turquoise water enclosed by a coral reef, providing an ideal venue for snorkelling and diving as well as a range of other water sports. A feature of Soneva Fushi is the wonderful Six Senses Spa offering massage, reflexology and beauty treatments, a range of which we can prebook for you. The magical character of the resort really comes alive at night, when dramatic lighting and candles create a sense of romantic luxury, and provide the perfect setting for memorable evenings. The dining experience here at Soneva Fushi is also suitably eclectic, with a combination of superb cuisine served in the main restaurant and Me Dhuniye restaurant but also in your villa, on the sandbank, on the beach or on a boat. Flavours too are a combination of western and oriental, northern and southern hemisphere and with great emphasis on the cuisine of the Maldives, using fresh local fish with Thai and Sri Lankan influences. Whatever your inclinations, whether for peace and relaxation on the beach broken only by a dip in the warm waters of the sea or by the ‘mihiree mitha’ buffet lunch served by the beach followed by ice cream in the parlour, or for the invigorating water sports or visits to nearby islands by boat to glimpse the traditional Maldivian way of life, Soneva Fushi aims to provide personal service par excellence.

Distance from airport
About 30 minutes by seaplane. For late-night departures it is possible to transfer from Malé airport to Soneva Gili by boat or plane, have the use of a bubble (day room), dinner and then transfer over to the airport for your flight. Supplements for these services are available on request from us. Please note that the resort is one hour ahead of official Maldives time.
