This was a lovely, lovely hotel. We had an apartment type of arrangement in a building across the street with our own little terrace. All very charming. The style of the hotel was just our cup of tea - lovely, stylish, informal. Great, great breakfast - best of the holiday. The impressive property of the Château de Mazan, a former residence of the Marquis de Sade, has been converted into a high quality hotel that is full of character and style but which retains its intimate ambience. It is ideally located in the charming and authentic Provençal village of Mazan; guests can either soak up the atmosphere of this hamlet or use the Château de Mazan as a base that is perfect for exploring the rich and varied beauty of northern Provence. The owners have taken care to retain wherever possible the original features of the residence and complement these with retro yet tasteful furnishings. Dashes of colour lend a modern touch to the interior of this historical building. Its rooms offer charm and comfort, and all are decorated in their own elegant and chic style. They feature retro style or Jacuzzi baths, and some benefit from modern hydro massage showers. As the rooms at the Château de Mazan vary in size and aspect, please contact our sales team to discuss your individual requirements. The garden is well kept, peaceful and is shaded by olive and mulberry trees, and it boasts an attractive swimming pool. The gastronomic restaurant serves excellent food from a choice of set menus (evening menus start from Euro 55), served either on the spacious terrace or in the airy restaurant. The journey and how you get there
For a holiday to Le Chateau de Mazan, our clients fly to Marseille or Nice and then usually have the use of a hire-car for the duration of the holiday, or they arrive in their own car on a self-drive holiday, often as part of a multi-centre touring holiday (we would include a Eurotunnel crossing or a ferry crossing, depending on the itinerary), or they arrive by train, having taken the Eurostar London to Paris or Lille, and then the TGV to Avignon, Aix-en-Provence or Nice. On some dates there is a direct service of the Eurostar from London to Avignon. From the railway station, if you are visiting more than one hotel or want to explore the region, we recommend having a hire-car. We will arrange this for you.
