Our opinion
The Jamaica Inn offers tranquil ambience with understated elegance - quite delightful.
Hotel description
The Jamaica Inn hotel enjoys an immensely privileged location in gently sloping gardens of lawns that extend to the long beach of soft, golden sand. Vividly coloured flowers and shrubs such as bougainvillaea and jacaranda stand out exuberantly against the striking cobalt-blue buildings of the Jamaica Inn resort, which form a semicircle almost encompassing the lawn and the beach. The beach at Jamaica Inn is long and wide and swimming is excellent, with an offshore reef protecting the wide bay alongside which the hotel is situated. Once favoured by Winston Churchill, Noel Coward and Ian Fleming, the Jamaica Inn hotel prides itself on maintaining its traditional charm in the present day. Today the hotel offers beachside tranquillity in the daytime and an elegant ambience in the evenings. Drinks and dinner at Jamaica Inn are served on terraces under palm trees overlooking the gardens and the sea, to the accompaniment of a live band. The Jamaica Inn bedrooms are a unique feature in that the deluxe and premier rooms offer spacious open-air verandas with ceiling fan, sofa, armchair and writing desk. Here you can enjoy room service for breakfast or dinner to the chatter of local birds or the sound of the sea, depending on the location of the room. Inside the rooms the deep blue of Jamaica Inn’s exterior walls is offset by white louvred shutters and white fabrics, traditionally colonial in style. At the KiYara ocean spa in Jamaica Inn, fresh ingredients are blended for each appointment, with herbal roots, coffee, coconut and pineapple used in a variety of ways. The Jamaica Inn resort offers a beachside holiday in surroundings which are full of character and charm.
