Travel by Train to Tuscany
Experience the romance of rail as you travel through Europe by train to the classical landscape of Tuscany. Discover rolling hills dotted with olive and cypress trees, hill top towns with golden stone houses and working vineyards.
In addition to the obvious attractions of the scenery of Chianti and the art cities of Florence and Siena, you can also explore the less well-known regions south of Siena, the patchwork vineyards of Montalcino, the spas of Montecatini and Saturnia and the islands of Elba and Giglio. Wherever you travel on holiday in Tuscany, you will be inspired by the beauty of your surroundings and the way of life which is quintessentially Italian. We recommend two very different, but popular hotels for visiting the heart of Tuscany.
The Hotel le Renaie enjoys a splendid, quiet, rural location in the hamlet of Pancole. This 3 star hotel provides very comfortable holiday accommodation, well-suited to a long stay and to being a base for day excursions throughout Tuscany. The hotel’s restaurant, Leonetto, justifiably enjoys excellent local acclaim. In our experience the food here is extremely good with a very wide choice. The outdoor swimming pool and garden will add to your enjoyment of this comfortable and well-run hotel. The Hotel le Renaie is an ideal centre for relaxation, and soaking in the Tuscan atmosphere.
The Borgo San Felice occupies almost the entire hamlet of San Felice on a slight hill north-east of Siena in Chianti country. Owned by the San Felice wine makers, the hamlet was converted almost house by house into an hotel and is now a beautiful Relais & Châteaux hotel, in fact one of the most appealing hotels in Tuscany. Surrounded by vineyards and gently rolling hills, the turrets of Siena can be seen in the distance against the setting sun. The excellent restaurant serves creative dishes and excellent regional specialities. You can buy San Felice wine here, seventeen different kinds in all of white, red and vin santo. We recommend the Borgo San Felice most strongly
