Christchurch in NZ is open for business
Christchurch offers a new shopping experience, tours and refurbished hotels.

Visitors and residents can enjoy a new, unique shopping experience in the city of Christchurch thanks to an innovative project that has turned shipping containers into upmarket retail outlets.
The very modern brightly-coloured glass fronted shipping container shopping mall is located in the heart of Christchurch's city centre and has been constructed to provide a temporary home for some of the retailers displaced by last year’s earthquake. It sits alongside Christchurch's iconic department store Ballantynes which has re-opened its doors after an extensive refurbishment. This can be experienced on the re-launched Grand Tour of Christchurch which also includes being punted on the River Avon by an Edwardian-dressed punter and exploring the seaside suburb of Sumner with its boutique shops, cafes and restaurants. A number of refurbished hotels are also due to reopen in 2012.
