Anse Chastanet is a destination in itself, occupying a spectacular location nestled within a 600 acre estate incorporating lush tropical rainforest, two beaches and many facilities and activities. The resort offers some wonderful opportunities for those looking for some adventure, with 12 miles of private trails to explore on foot or by bike and some of St Lucia’s best coral reefs for snorkelling and scuba diving.
Biking
The 12 miles of private trails through the tropical jungle of Anse Mamin have been designed to accommodate the experienced rider or absolute beginner on Cannondale suspension bikes. Single track loops have been built to challenge the skills of the experienced rider; there is also a skills area where you have the option to learn the secrets of successful techniques under the watchful eye of an instructor. Everyone receives a trail map and signs mark the trail areas according to experience levels.
En route you may see the 18th century French colonial ruins of a sugar mill, an old church and fresh water reservoir. There is an abundance of vegetation including wild orchids and a good variety of birds. To cool off, jump into the river swimming hole.
Jungle Biking Pre-Bookable Package
Mountain bikes can be rented at the resort for US$49 for half a day (2 hours) or US$79 for a full day (4 hours). For keen mountain bikers, we can pre-book a Jungle Biking package from £126 for three full days’ bike rental or three half days from £79.
Diving
Anse Chastanet is at the heart of St.Lucia's very best diving: the region surrounding the resort is an award-winning marine reserve. Scuba St Lucia is a National Geographic/PADI 5 Star Dive Resort and is located at the south end of Anse Chastanet beach.
The reef starts just 10 yards from the water's edge and offers an amazing profusion of unusual tropical marine life. In the shallow areas you may see peacock flounders, octopus, needle fish and turtles. Or drop down a little deeper over dense coral growth to see puffers, moray eels, parrot fish, lobsters and even sea horses. Night dives are offered at least twice weekly on the reef where you may see large basket stars, sleeping parrot fish, octopus and squid. Boat dives are also not to be missed; you can see a large number of spectacular sights including the dramatic walls beneath the majestic Piton Mountains, a drift dive in the shadow of Petit Piton, coral gardens and the wreck of the "Lesleen M".
This is an ideal place to learn to dive, with warm clear waters and a shallow, protected reef so close to the Dive Centre. The introductory Scuba course is offered most days a week and Open Water Certification courses start every week. A full range of more advanced courses are available by arrangement.
Scuba Diver Special Pre-Bookable Package for Certified Divers
We offer a pre-bookable 12-dive package from £290 per person (not available to book at the resort). Unused dives not refundable. The first dive is always a shore dive. The dive package includes boat usage, mask, fin, snorkels, and weights and weight belt. Additional equipment available at charge. The Marine Park fee of US$5 daily or US$15 yearly is payable locally (NB this fee may change and is not under the control of Anse Chastanet). Scuba Divers must present their certification card at the dive shop. The dive shop reserves the right to turn away divers who cannot be considered medically fit to dive.
