  • Luxury family holidays to the Indian Ocean

Luxury family holidays to the Indian Ocean from Expressions Holidays.

A tropical playground of soft, sandy beaches and warm waters, children and adults alike will be captivated by the beauty and charm of the Indian Ocean islands and their people.

The Maldives and Mauritius are excellent family destinations, providing safe and welcoming environments that are exotic whilst not at all overwhelming. Drawing influence from Africa, Asia and Europe, the islands are a surprising hybrid of cultures, which brings vibrancy and colour to the towns and resorts that are scattered across them. The Indian Ocean is warm and often calm, providing the ideal conditions for young children to gain confidence in the water. This is also the ideal place for them to enjoy a first taste of water sports, of which there is an excellent choice, from snorkelling over vibrant coral reefs to windsurfing and kayaking, which can be done as a family and also as part of the kids’ clubs in a number of resorts.

Though in some ways very similar, Mauritius and the Maldives are each essentially able to offer the visitor different things. The Maldives is composed of over a thousand tiny coral islands and epitomises barefoot luxury, offering a chance to really escape from it all and enjoy luxurious tranquillity. Parents will find assurance in the small size of the islands and the safe surroundings that this subsequently creates for children to enjoy themselves. Mauritius is undoubtedly the most accessible Indian Ocean island and is ideal not only for excellent and exclusive resorts but for exploring the culture and stunning inland topography of the island. There is no doubt that the Indian Ocean islands will surpass your expectations and leave you longing to return.
