Those willing to venture further afield may pay a visit to the nearby quaint country villages of Berry or Kangaroo Valley, or simply admire the magnificent views over the Shoalhaven from the vantage point of the dramatic Illawarra Escarpment. However, it is the crystal-clear waters of Jervis Bay that continue to entice Sydney-siders, and international tourists alike. Paperbark Camp features 12 canvas safari style tents that have been thoughtfully placed amongst the soaring eucalypts and intriguing paperbarks of Currambene Creek. Almost treehouse in style, they have been built above the ground to provide maximum privacy for guests, exceptional views and the gentle sea breeze from the South Coast. All tents feature wrap around decking and outdoor furniture, providing the perfect vantage point to spot the exceptional variety of local flora and fauna. Whilst minimalist in style, sleep soundly in a camp that is as glamorous as glamping can be. From high quality linen, to full insect screening, Paperbark Camp will provide all the luxury hotel amenities you could ask for. Bird watch and kangaroo spot from the comfort of a steaming hot shower in your open-air private en-suite. The Gunyah (aboriginal for meeting place, or place of shelter) is the heart of the camp. Designed by Sydney architects Nettleton Tribe, it is a unique space built high off the ground to ensure a sea breeze as you gaze through the treetops. In the warmer months, the sliding doors open for outdoor dining on the veranda, providing a bushy backdrop to candlelit meals. In the winter, an open fire with cosy lounges is ideal spot to curl up on after a nightcap, perhaps to swap some travelling tales with other guests, or to enjoy a game of cards. At sunset though, be sure to lounge on the Sundowner deck where a late afternoon drink and tasty bar snacks are the perfect accompaniment to the mesmerising theatre of a sky full of ambers, pinks, oranges and midnight blues.

Paperbark Camp has 12 safari-style tents which all include full insect screening, solar-powered lighting, a large decking area, polished hardwood flooring, en-suite bathrooms, handmade soaps and lotions and slippers and gowns.

Original safari-style tents These are the most basic of the safari-tents, however they include everything needed for a more-than-comfortable stay
Deluxe safari-style tents These tents feature luxury linen and an outdoor lounge, for those wanting a little more 'glam' in their glamping experience
King deluxe safari-style tent Perfect for families, these are the largest of the safari-tents, and they include 2 King/Twin beds and a larger deck area outside. A covered larger bathroom features a sunken bath and a separate outdoor bush shower.

The journey and how you get there

For a holiday to the Paperbark Camp in Jervis Bay, Expressions Holidays includes flights from London to Sydney with British Airways or Qantas (flying time is about 22 hrs 40 mins to Sydney) but Sydney is served by a wide variety of international airlines and we can include other airlines in your holiday. The chosen airline will depend upon any stopovers you might want to make en-route to Australia. Paperbark Camp is a 2 hour and 20-minute drive from Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport and the city centre. Expressions Holidays recommends the use of a hire-car for visiting this hotel, and we will include that in the price of your holiday, although private car transfers can be provided as an alternative.
