Our opinion
The Chedi “An elegant and stylish resort full of Arab magic.”
Hotel description
Sophisticated and modern, The Chedi sits on the Bouchar beachfront against the glorious backdrop of Muscat’s mountain ranges reflected in the clear waters of the Arabian Gulf. Taking its cue from traditional Omani architecture, the resort’s brilliant white buildings feature narrow high windows and curved, pointed arches. It sits in nearly 20 acres of grounds, boasting its own private beach and two swimming pools, and is just a 20-minute journey north of Muscat. Courtyards, terraces and water gardens come alive by night with bowls of flame and glittering fountains. The resort’s 151 rooms and suites enjoy magnificent views over the water or across the mountains. The Chedi Club Suites are particularly grand. In spacious bungalows or villas dotted among the palm trees and gardens, they feature large bedrooms, separate living rooms and sunken black marble baths. Each has white walls and cream marble windowsills, complemented perfectly by stylish authentic fabrics in muted colours. Amenities are sleek and infallibly modern. The Restaurant combines the resort’s Arabian charm with a Zen ambience and spectacular European features. Elegant but relaxed, it has won several awards for cuisine and design; guests can watch breakfast, lunch and dinner being prepared in one of the four show kitchens. Meals are a combination of Arabic, Mediterranean, Asian and Indian cuisine, perhaps tuna fish with caviar or a Moroccan salad. A new beachfront restaurant has recently opened to add to the dining options at the resort. The ambience at the Chedi is one of tranquillity, wellbeing and peace, and this is reflected at the spa. Four of the seven well-appointed treatment rooms are the luxurious Spa Suites with sunken terrazzo baths, in which guests can pamper themselves with a selection from the extensive menu of therapies and signature treatments. The beauty products used at the spa are made only of natural organic products from Bali and Australia, and treatments combine elements inspired by different techniques around the world to ensure total harmony and relaxation. Refined and romantic, The Chedi is an outstanding resort with superb facilities and accommodation.
