Our opinion
Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahia Real is an elegant and well-located resort on a beautiful Atlantic island.
Hotel description
The Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real is situated in one of the most attractive corners of Fuerteventura, an Atlantic island whose volcanic origins have given rise to a landscape of outstanding beauty. It sits on the edge of the Dunes of Corralejo Natural Park, where 3,125 acres of fine, constantly moving white sand forms dunes up to 50 metres high, stretching out towards the ocean. This protected area also includes the nearby island of Los Lobos or Island of Sea Wolves, which is home to a wide variety of native species of flora and fauna as well as a seabed of great ecological diversity. The hotel’s neo-mudejar architecture draws on influences from both Arab and colonial times, with warm colours, exuberant vegetation and elements of the local cultural heritage sensitively incorporated into the pleasing interior design and modern facilities. The rooms exude a sense of space, elegance and comfort. Most of them have private balconies or terraces either with views over the ocean towards the islands of Lobos and Lanzarote or overlooking the subtropical gardens. Dining possibilities are varied: the hotel’s keynote restaurant is La Cupula, supervised by Carles Gaig, a 2-star Michelin Spanish Chef of international reputation. There is also Yamatori, a Japanese Sushi restaurant, Las Columnas for traditional Spanish cuisine, a buffet and a beach restaurant and bar. The hotel offers a wide range of services to suit all tastes: children are well catered for with a mini club with heated pool and a play station centre, and there are two heated swimming pools and a Beach Club, as well as extensive shopping facilities. The Bahia Vital Spa occupies 3000 square metres and has a magnificent fitness centre as its top floor. The Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real occupies a beautiful site on a beautiful island, and is excellently placed as a pampering spa retreat with plenty of additional interest both inside and outside its grounds.

Out and aboutnearby/local interest
Fuerteventura is a small island, where everything is quite easily accessible by taxi or hire car. It’s an extremely attractive island, with many things to see, especially of botanical interest. You can visit the nearby Dunes of Corralejo Natural Park, and there are plenty of walks available, including more serious ones, for example to the sacred mountain of Tindaya. To see more of local history and culture it’s worth visiting the Ethnological Museum of Betancuria and the well preserved colonial village of La Oliva. The neighbouring islands of Lobos and Lanzarote are only 20 minutes away by ferry.
