Our opinion
The Gran Bahia del Duque is a sought-after, elegant resort with a wide range of accommodation and exceptional facilities.
Hotel description
Spread out over a gentle slope leading down to the sea, the Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque Resort occupies beautiful grounds in the south of Tenerife. Though it is large, the intimacy of its layout, its high windows and turreted buildings lend the resort the feeling of a Canarian village. The sub-tropical gardens that run through and around the complex are constantly being nurtured and burst with palms, jacarandas, fruit and dragon trees, cacti and rubber plants.
Rooms show a Moroccan influence, bright and airy and decorated in shades of ochre and sienna, though there are hints of Victorian and Venetian detail in the furnishing. Junior Suites are particularly recommended for families, accommodating up to two adults and two children, whilst there are now also spacious Villas which opened in January 2008. Personal service is a priority; the Club House in the main hall aims to fulfil your every requirement, from restaurant reservations to organising excursions. With eight restaurants and seven bars there is no lack of dining options within the Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque Resort. The rustic main restaurant El Bernegal offers terrace dining with views over the beach. The emphasis at the resort is on Continental cuisine, with French and Italian restaurants as well as La Tasca, serving a wide range of authentic tapas. Guests will find no end of sports and activities either, from fishing to parasailing, jogging to horse riding. The Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque Resort is in an ideal location to explore the island and its fascinating geography, near Teide National Park and facing the island of La Gomera. It also offers the unique opportunity to explore the stars, with its own observatory open to guests on certain evenings. The Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque is a large resort but it offers the intimacy and personal service of a much smaller hotel.
