Expressions Holidays highly recommends a family holiday at the Abama for all ages. For families with two children, the Junior Suites will give you the extra room you need or, alternatively, interconnecting rooms are available. The children's club caters for children from 5 to 11 years and offer a wide range of activities to keep everyone occupied. While the kids are being entertained, you can enjoy time on the beach, on the golf course or in the spa. Children are welcome in most of the resort's ten restaurants. When parents dine in La Pampa or Verona, children up to the age of 11 dine free of charge. Although there is more than enough to do at the resort, popular family excursions include the Aqualand Costa Adeje waterpark, Jardines de Atlantico banana plantations, boat trips to La Gomera island, Las Aguiles jungle park, Camel park and Loro Parque animal park.

With Expressions Holidays we arrange for a private transfer for your party size from Tenerife airport to the hotel. The journey time is about 25 minutes.

Hotel description

Volcanic landscapes, exuberant vegetation and panoramic views over the Atlantic Ocean and the Island of La Gomera greet you at Abama Golf & Spa Resort in the 160 hectares of private estate into which this dramatic resort is built. Abama was designed by the architect Melvin Villaroel and modernism merges with the traditions North Africa and the principles of ancient China.

At the heart of the resort is a magical citadel of Moorish-style buildings, burnt terracotta in colour, yet changeable with the light throughout the day. In keeping with its roots, you will find spaces of calm and seclusion, secret gardens, delightful pools and breathtaking vistas. In the citadel you will find most of the restaurants and bars, a library and screening room and the spa as well as swimming pools and ornamental lakes. The citadel is situated between the beach and the golf course, both within walking distance and just two minutes in chauffeur-driven buggy.

The accommodation in the Citadel consists of deluxe rooms or two categories of suites. Local materials such as Canary Island pine abound and all have a spacious fitted wardrobe, king or twin beds and state of the art audio-visual equipment. Bathrooms have tubs and separate shower. Each room has its own terrace with views of the Atlantic, the golf course or the gardens. The resort is proud of its luxurious bed linen with 300 thread-count Egyptian cotton in the citadel and 100% natural linen in the villas. Six pillows come as standard whilst there is a pillow menu for specialist requests. The villas are located amongst botanic gardens that tumble down from the main citadel towards the ocean. The villa rooms are designed to be secluded yet have full room service and transport is available on request to any part of the resort.

The swimming pools throughout the resort are surrounded by greenery and fit in naturally with the landscaping as well has having sea views. Two are ocean lagoons reclaimed from the volcanic rock at the foot of the cliff the beach reached by funicular and then along the jetty beside the beach. Dining is intended to offer variety and quality of experience, so there are restaurants offering seafood, Italian and Argentinian, local specialities and gourmet cuisine. With its children’s club, golf course, tennis academy and spa, Abama offers exceptional standards and facilities for all ages of guest.

Children's Club: Club Abami is available on a complimentary basis daily for children 4 to 12 years and is open from 10 am until midnight. There is a programme of inside and outside activities that take place in the swimming pool and on the beach. Activities include cooking workshops, clay sculpture and face painting. Meals at a supplement.

For children aged from 6 months - 3 years, a creche (chargeable) will be available for stays until 3 January 2012. Children of 4 years old will be accepted into the children's club until this date.

Family rooms: Abama deluxe and Abama villa double rooms can take 2 adults and 1 child or 3 adults with an extra bed or cot, Abama junior suites can take up to 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults and 1 child with 2 extra beds or cots, Abama suites and Abama villa suites can take up to 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults and 1 child with 2 extra beds or cots. There are interconnecting rooms.
