The journey and how you get there

Expressions bases the holiday on the British Airways scheduled flights from London to Lisbon, but many clients ask us to include an airline from their local airport. We are more than happy to include these in the holiday we arrange for you. Once you arrive at Lisbon, we have a private transfer organised for you, although some clients do ask us to prebook a hire-car instead. Penha Longa is about 30 minutes away from Lisbon airport, so an easy journey.

A bright pink building nestled amongst rolling hills, the resort’s architecture follows the graceful design of a palazzo estate. The interiors combine this traditional style with a contemporary sophistication to provide refined and welcoming spaces.The spacious guestrooms at the Penha Longa Hotel and Golf Resort have been luxuriously appointed with exquisite fabrics and beautiful wooden furniture, combined with muted colours to create calming and comfortable surroundings. Each room has a private balcony, which is safe for children and ideal for enjoying the beautiful views that are afforded over the grounds. Families are well catered for with a number of connecting rooms available and children are allowed their own room. The lush vegetation that surrounds the resort spreads out into its two golf courses – the 9-hole Monastery Course and the 18-hole Atlantic course – with the Penha Longa Resort rising majestically in the background. The Kids’ Club operates during the school holiday periods (Summer, Christmas and Easter) between the hours of 9.30am and 4.30pm throughout the week and at a charge. Children aged between 5 and 12 can take advantage of a wide range of activities, either on a half-day or full-day basis. Onsite activities include handicrafts, tile painting, traditional Portuguese games and theatre performances. Golf clinics, picnics, a day at the stable and treasure hunts are some of the outdoor and off-site activities available. Children who are at the Kids’ Club for a full day can enjoy a health conscious menu, which is included in the charge. The club is led by experienced staff, with a ratio of 1 adult to 8 children and is located in the health club.

Family rooms: The maximum occupancy per room is 2 adults and 1 child under 12 years old. Connecting rooms are available and children are allowed their own room. 1 extra bed per room only.

Children’s amenities: The hotel is able to provide child safety features such as covers for electric sockets on request.
