Our opinion
The Fairmont Mayakoba is an ideal resort both for experiencing the rich and varied landscapes of the area and enjoying a superb range of activities and facilities.
Hotel description
Designed around a network of beautiful waterways, Fairmont Mayakoba takes its place within a luxury community that spans forty-five acres. The various areas that make up the resort are connected by a series of lagoons, allowing guests to move easily to and from each part by using the complimentary ‘lanchas’ or covered canal boats. Made up of traditionally styled buildings, Fairmont Mayakoba is intended to work harmoniously with its environment. Large windows offering beautiful vistas make the resort’s interiors light and airy. The guestrooms have been decorated in an elegant Mexican style with dark wood and earthy tones, and a large balcony or terrace allows for further enjoyment of the surroundings. The rooms are spacious and depending on their type are able to sleep between two and six people. Bicycles, electric golf carts and well-marked nature trails are available to enable guests to move freely through the Fairmont Mayakoba resort. There are four swimming pools, including one with superb views over the lagoons, and a children’s pool with a water slide. Though enjoying a tranquil position nestled in the forest, the resort has its own private beach, which can be reached by boat or bike, and here guests are able to enjoy cabanas, a casual restaurant and reef diving on the Great Mayan Reef. An excellent variety of activities are offered at the clubs for children and teenagers, including theme parties, art, team sports and excursions around the property. The Fairmont Mayakoba resort has four restaurants, which include the Latino-Mex flavours of La Laguna Grill & Bar, and international and local all-day dining at El Puerto Restaurant. Sweet treats such as pastries and ice cream are available throughout the day at Café Maya. The Fairmont Mayakoba is an ideal resort both for experiencing the rich and varied landscapes of the area and enjoying a superb range of activities and facilities.
