Our opinion
Terme di Saturnia is a calm, harmonious spa in the land of Roman legend.
Hotel description
Terme di Saturnia Spa & Golf Resort is situated to the south-west of Florence and the Chianti, an oasis of wellness in the heart of the Tuscan part of the Maremma. This is a region steeped in the traditions of cattle-rearing, its landscapes dotted with evocative Etruscan burial grounds, elegant Roman villas and medieval fortresses, in summer a vast golden expanse of wheatfields. The Terme di Saturnia Spa & Golf Resort is built around an old restored building of grey Travertine stone, set in an ancient park. It is both exclusive and welcoming, enjoying an evocative natural setting which is at once rich in history and tradition and dedicated to the most modern arts of well-being.Legend claims that Saturnia was Italy’s first town, and so-called because Saturn himself caused sulphurous waters to spurt out from a volcanic crater to embrace and calm everything in their wake. Calm, health and well-being remain paramount at the resort, where in addition to the brand new spa, well-equipped gym and tennis court, and 18-hole golf course. All the 140 rooms, 65 of them Junior Suites, are equipped according to the resort’s 'habitat philosophy', a continual search for harmony with the environment expressed in the choice of flooring, lighting and shades of fabrics and finishings which combine to create an atmosphere of total well-being.Terme di Saturnia’s two restaurants, Aqualuce and All’Acquacotta, take their inspiration from the strong and traditional flavours of Mediterranean and Tuscan traditions. At Aqualuce you’ll find sophisticated and innovative international dishes, while All’Acquacotta’s emphasis is on the use of seasonal produce accompanied by the finest local wines. Those who prefer lighter and more health-conscious fare can follow the menus formulated by dieticians from Terme di Saturnia’s medical team.Terme di Saturnia Spa & Golf Resort, a member of Leading Hotels of the World, is an ideal location for a short pampering break in a sophisticated spa, while the variety of interest in the surrounding area makes it also an excellent choice for a longer holiday.
