Our opinion
Grotta Giusti Golf & Spa Resort is a thermal spa hotel set in the sophistication of a Florentine Palace.
Hotel description
An elegantly-appointed villa dating from the 19th Century, this hotel captures the essence of true Italian hospitality. The thermally heated caves and underground lake were discovered by labourers working on the estate 160 years ago, and since then the hotel has become a magnet for those looking for therapeutic cures and rejuvenating spa treatments. The caves have recently undergone an extensive restyling programme and a new relaxation area has been created just outside the cave, where guests can relax and meditate after a thermal steam bath.
The Tuscan hills provide the perfect backdrop to this relaxing retreat and offer the opportunity for gentle country walks. Monsummano is a good base to explore the region as the historic cities of Florence, Pisa and Siena are only a short drive away. The large outdoor swimming pool is kept constantly filled with naturally warm thermal spring water. A new thermal pool with a series of hydro massage jets has just opened. The thermal water is also pumped into the marble bathrooms of the Superior Rooms so an upgrade to one of these means that you can enjoy the benefits of the mineral-rich waters in the luxury of your own bedroom. Tastefully decorated, the rooms either overlook the park at the front of the hotel or the mountain at the back. The interior of the property has been filled with stylish furnishings and carefully chosen antiques.
The Giusti Room, located next to the bar, is the ideal place to relax with a drink at the end of the day. With its enchanting frescoes, chandelier and deep high-backed armchairs it is the epitome of Italian style. Typical light and flavoursome Tuscan cuisine is served in the hotel’s dining room, La Veranda, which enjoys views over the grounds of the estate. For those watching their weight, low calorie options are always included in the menu. The Grotta Giusti offers a true pampering experience with high standards of service in an inspiring location.
