    Our opinion

Shanti Maurice “A dedicated destination Spa resort with an impeccable pedigree.”

    Hotel description

Situated between the lush mountains of Mauritius and the Indian Ocean, Shanti Maurice has evolved from the highly acclaimed Ananda in the Himalayas and combines a very special destination spa with superb all-round leisure facilities aimed at a wider market than just spa lovers. The resort is located in the south of Mauritius by the sea at St. Felix, spread over thirty-six acres of tropical gardens, circled by gracefully wooded hills with breathtaking views of the mountains and the Indian Ocean. The accommodation is in 61 suites and villas, luxuriously fitted out and making good use of local wood and traditional materials to blend in with the lush surroundings; all of them overlook the sea and are well positioned for privacy. Cuisine at Shanti Maurice is based on Ayurvedic principles, which stress the importance of the right food for each person’s body-type. These principles convert easily to suit all cuisines, and the food at Shanti Maurice is an eclectic and wholesome combination that can be sampled at Pebbles, for informal all day dining, and Stars, Shanti Maurice's new signature restaurant. The lounge bar, Red Ginger, offers both alfresco and indoor options and features local Mauritian entertainment in the evenings. There is no shortage of leisure options here. The beautifully equipped Spa is the main focus of Shanti Maurice, but the resort itself, in keeping with its holistic philosophy, organizes a wide range of leisure activities, including walks, meditation, yoga and aqua yoga, Vedanta sessions, aqua aerobics and cookery classes, and there is golf, tennis and deep sea fishing nearby as well. Shanti Maurice promises to combine a blissful Mauritian experience.
