Our opinion
The islands of The Conrad Maldives Rangali with warm waters and beaches fringed with coconut palms, provide not just sunbathing amid glorious natural scenery
Hotel description
The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island enjoys a breathtaking location on the two tropical islands of Rangali and Rangalifinolhu, joined across the shallow turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean by a bridge. The hotel has been designed and executed in a style that is completely in keeping with the region, through the attractive use of wood and thatch, open air and soft coral sand. The islands with their warm waters and beaches fringed with coconut palms provide not just sunbathing amid glorious natural scenery but also numerous sports and leisure facilities, from snorkelling and diving to beach volleyball and tennis. The over-water spa village is a new addition to the resort and consists of 21 spa water villas and nine treatment rooms. Built over the lagoon on Rangalifinolhu island, the spa village includes nine therapy suites, a retail area and a hair and beauty salon, and boasts a most tranquil and exclusive environment. On Rangalifinolhu you will find the unique and very special Ithaa restaurant. This is a unique underwater restaurant, with the ceiling and walls built entirely from glass, allowing you to watch the colourful marine life whilst enjoying the western and Asian-influenced Maldivian cuisine. The extensive dining options continue on Rangali Island, where you can enjoy teppanyaki dishes in an idyllic setting beside the lagoon at the Koko Grill, or for a truly memorable gourmet experience, you can dine at the underground Wine Cellar. There is an excellent selection of villas on offer at the resort, situated either on the beach or over the water. The beach villas are situated on Rangalifinolhu and all face the sea, boasting private open-air gardens and stunning bathing pavilions, with a bath tub from where you can enjoy the sea views. The water villas are built over the lagoon on stilts, across the water from the beach villas on Rangali. Decorated in natural materials of wood, cane and palmleaf, the villas are spacious and elegant with redwood oak floors, cedar walls and teak decks, from which steps lead down to the water. If pampering is your aim, the Spa Water Villas are ideal, situated over the water on Rangalifonolhu Island and with ocean views from the bathroom and a private sun deck. The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island offers excellent accommodation and facilities in a truly Maldivian ambience.
