    Our opinion

“A magical island-resort offering superb surroundings and service.”

    Hotel description

The Banyan Tree Maldives Vabbinfaru is a first-class resort occupying a tiny island in the North Malé Atoll, an exclusive hideaway fringed by soft, powder-like white sand and lapped by the pale turquoise waters of the reef-sheltered lagoon. The emphasis is on luxurious relaxation, created by the seclusion of the resort, the privacy of your villa and a range of leisure activities, from the magic of an aromatic massage to energetic water sports. The hotel has a dive centre which offers a number of single dives, dive packages and advanced courses, and from where you can explore the reef and the multitude of yellows, blues, reds, violets and oranges of the fish and the coral. The villas are a short distance from the beach. Designed to reflect the spiral of a sea shell under a conical thatched roof, all have open terraces, a view of the ocean and stylishly exotic interiors, with four-poster beds, large bathrooms, a daybed and handicrafts such as a twig laundry basket, scented candles and mango wood bowls. All, too, have their own private jacuzzis. Dining is relaxed and informal in atmosphere, yet service and cuisine are of the highest standards, with a choice between the Ilaafathi restaurant overlooking the ocean or the Sangu Garden restaurant in a coconut grove by the sea. Alternatively you can choose to dine romantically in the privacy of your own villa. Another special feature here is private dining on a nearby sandbank; you are whisked away by speedboat to a secluded beach where a personal chef prepares your food for you. A range of water sports is included in your stay whilst others, such as waterskiing, are available at a charge together with lessons. The Banyan Tree Maldives Vabbinfaru is an idyllic island resort offering first-class amenities and service. Highly recommended; early booking advisable.
