A low-lying private island surrounded by crystal clear turquoise waters, Parrot Cay is located forty minutes from Providenciales, amongst cacti and mangroves. The island’s one thousand acres of natural beach are complemented by the lean and sophisticated simplicity of the hotel. Designed to be a haven of peace and quiet, its style reflects the tone and colours of its surroundings – turquoise, deep blue and pale sand. Natural wooden floorboards, white-painted verandas and white muslin curtains add to the feeling of tranquillity here. On arrival at the Parrot Cay dock you are greeted and taken by golf cart to the hotel’s stunning reception area where formalities are kept to a minimum and you are accompanied to your room. Service is attentive, discreet but unassuming. In keeping with the impression of being a sanctuary, the Como Shambhala spa offers a real retreat, beautifully designed to optimise tranquillity and creating an excellent environment for pampering. Facilities at the spa include an infinity-edge swimming pool on the leeward side of the island, a yoga room and an outdoor Jacuzzi garden. Whilst the emphasis is very much on relaxation at Parrot Cay, there is a good range of facilities on offer to guests, including diving and catamaran sailing. Should you wish to venture from the peaceful haven of the island, Providenciales can be visited and the hotel can also arrange fishing trips or visits to other islands. Haute cuisine is offered in the restaurant, where the emphasis is on sourcing seasonal and largely organic ingredients of the finest quality. Light meals can also be taken by the pool during the day, which is ideal if you have succumbed to complete relaxation.
