Our opinion
Petit St Vincent Resort is a secluded, tropical island retreat that offers a rustic sophistication amid natural scenery of the Caribbean.
Hotel description
Petit St Vincent Resort (or PSV, as it is known) occupies a private island of about 113 acres, south of Union Island. Surrounded by reef, the sea around PSV is myriad shades of green and blue. Snorkelling is excellent here. Although there is no swimming pool, there are secluded beaches all around the island. Cottages are dotted around the island, some on the hill, others right on the beachfront. Communication is by way of flags raised outside your cottage, indicating service or privacy. Seclusion and privacy are the watchwords here at PSV and, coupled with its startling natural location and ambience, it is ideal for honeymooners or for those who really want to escape from the rigours of contemporary life. There is a central house perched on the hillside, built of stone and wood, with views across the bay. Here is the open-air bar and restaurant where delicious meals are served. In the evening as you dine by candlelight you can see the shimmering lights of Petite Martinique across the water. This is complemented by a new barefoot bar on the beach. The food is of a high standard with the atmosphere relaxed. If you want to maintain your seclusion, room service is provided and you can have your meals served in your cottage. The 22 recently refurbished, spacious cottages are built of natural stone and wood, and have a rustic chic feel. New furniture has been handcrafted out of teak and driftwood to compliment the natural marine colours of the soft furnishings creating an overall lighter effect. Days are spent on the beach, in hammocks, trying water sports or sailing to neighbouring islands. A new spa is a fantastic addition.
