Our opinion
The Cotton House is serene and graceful, nonchalantly charming and immensely satisfying.
Hotel description
This wonderful hotel was originally an 18th century coral warehouse and sugar mill and has retained many of the original features and furnishings during its restoration, so that now it combines its historic character with the amenities a highly discerning contemporary traveller demands. At the heart of the Cotton House is the Great Room, reminiscent of a bygone era, surrounded by a dining veranda with full ocean view, charmingly romantic in the evening with candlelight and music. The hotel prides itself on attention to detail and in pampering the world’s most sophisticated travellers, highlighted by the hotel’s unusual pillow menu and its unpacking and pressing service for you on arrival. There are just 17 guest rooms and suites, beautifully furnished with views and patio, terrace or wraparound veranda. Most of the rooms, including the ground floor deluxe rooms and suites, have their own private plunge pool. There is also the Cotton Hill Residence, a two-bedroom suite with large private pool, full Butler service and a daily 'mule' provided. The Cotton House grounds extend to the beach and it has its own water sports and dive shop. In the daytime you can enjoy panoramic views of the island from the pool and in the evening watch the sun set. Fine dining is ensured by the chef who combines the abundance of fresh ingredients found in the Caribbean with imported delicacies from all over the world. There is also a Beach Café which is open every day for lunch and snacks in the afternoon. Days at the Cotton House can of course be spent on the beach or by the pool but many guests here take a picnic and find an almost private beach on the island, hire a mule (jeep) or take a boat tour to the other islands nearby. There is also a spa located on the beach facing the sea offering a range of holistic treatments including a detoxifying algae wrap and hot stone therapy. A luxurious and memorable hotel.
