An exciting range of fun and educational supervised activities are provided for children including glass bottom boat excursions, arts and crafts, volcano and botanical garden tours. The rooms are well suited to families, with some of the villas sleeping up to two adults and two children. Adults can treat themselves to a little pampering and relaxation at the spa or take advantage of the watersports on offer. Jalousie Plantation is located close to the rainforest. Families can enjoy the volcano experience, botanical gardens, boat trips and waterfalls. The town of Soufrière is 15 minutes away by car.

Expressions Holidays includes scheduled flights that are direct with British Airways or Virgin Atlantic from London to St Lucia. Once in St Lucia, you are transferred from the airport to the hotel by private transfer (taking about 45 minutes).

Our opinion

Jalousie Plantation, Sugar Beach is an excellent and highly recommended hotel in a superb position overlooking St Lucia's dramatic Pitons.

Hotel description

The Jalousie Plantation, Sugar Beach is surrounded by spectacular scenery. Set on a hillside that descends towards the Caribbean Sea, the resort is surrounded by 325 acres of lush tropical gardens abundant with mango, coconut and papaya trees. Integrated into the resort are both the remains of the 18th Century Sugar Mill Estate, which once stood on the same site and now adds historical charm, and the remarkable undersea environment of the National Marine Reserve.
The rooms and villas all enjoy beautiful views of the mountains or the ocean, which can be enjoyed from the privacy of your private sun terrace. The accommodation is well suited to families with both the Superior Luxury Villas and Grand Luxury Villas able to accommodate 2 adults and 2 children. The focal point of the resort is the Great House, which reflects the charming architecture seen throughout St Lucia, and houses the reception area, restaurants and the bar. The Plantation offers guests an opportunity to experience exciting Caribbean flavours in a more formal ambience. The resort’s grounds are fragrant with oleander and jasmine and run down to a beautiful stretch of secluded white-sand beach, where guests can enjoy a number of water sports. Jalousie is home to the National Marine Reserve and snorkelling is free for all guests.
Children aged between five and twelve will be delighted with The Learning Centre, where a variety of on- and off-site activities are arranged each day, many of them focussing on the natural environment of Jalousie. Adults can treat themselves to a little pampering and relaxation at the spa, where a number of excellent treatments are offered, including a Bamboo massage. This is an excellent and highly recommended hotel in a superb position.

The Learning Centre is open daily from 9am to 5pm, for children between 5 and 12 years old, and is free of charge. Children under 5 years of age may also attend but they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Learning Centre offers an extensive programme of activities that vary daily, such as sandcastle building, dance classes, miniature golf and shell collecting. A number of offsite activities such as a glass bottom boat tour and a visit to the volcano and Diamond Falls are also arranged, at an additional charge. The Learning Centre provides a special children’s menu for lunch, which is available at an additional cost.

Family rooms Superior Luxury Villa and Grand Luxury Villa can both accommodate maximum 2 adults and 2 children. Two Bedroom Grand Villa can accommodate maximum 4 adults and 4 children. All room types can accommodate 1 baby cot in addition to maximum numbers.

Children’s amenities: Kettles can be provided on request. Please ask for details.

Babysitting: In-room babysitting is available in evening and daytime at a charge and must be pre-booked on arrival at the hotel. There is a maximum of 3 children per babysitter.
