Our opinion
Nisbet Plantation is one of our favourite Caribbean hotels for its location, space, standards of accommodation and cuisine.
Hotel description
Originally a sugar and then a coconut plantation, Nisbet Plantation is set amongst thirty acres of grounds with direct access to a white sand beach. It was once the family home of Fanny Nisbet, who married Lord Nelson. The Great House with its gracious colonial feel is an elegant setting for afternoon tea and dinner. One of the most attractive aspects for us of Nisbet is its mixture of historic house with tradition and spacious grounds of swaying coconut palms. An avenue of palms leads several hundred yards down to the sea. The beach is white sand and the swimming area is protected by an offshore reef. Right on the beach are the swimming pool, Coconuts restaurant and the Sea Breeze beach bar, where full cooked breakfasts and lunches are served. An outstanding feature of the hotel is the cuisine, of an exceptionally high standard, making imaginative use of local produce with a European sophistication. There are thirty-six bedrooms located in different styles of bungalow or two-storey houses among the palm trees in the grounds. We love the comfort and space of the Premier Suites, closest to the sea, but all rooms have a good quality feel and are very well furnished in a contemporary Caribbean style. Nisbet comes highly recommended.
