Our opinion
Round Hill's lush grounds burst with a splendid array of tropical flowers such as jasmine, frangipani and bougainvillaea.
Hotel description
A captivating sense of well-being and timeless style welcomes you from the moment you reach Round Hill. The extraordinary beauty of the gardens cannot fail to impress even those who are familiar with the most beautiful gardens in the Caribbean. Once part of a plantation growing sugar, coconuts, pineapple and allspice, the lush grounds today burst with a splendid array of tropical flowers such as jasmine, frangipani and bougainvillaea. Every Friday afternoon, the resort’s head gardener guides guests through the gardens, offering guests the chance to gain an insight into them. The hotel grounds are situated on a hill that descends to a crescent-shaped bay and yellow sandy beach, from where guests can enjoy complimentary water sports that include snorkelling, windsurfing and kayaking. Complimentary tennis rackets are provided so that guests can make use of the five tennis courts, and a tennis notice board allows guests to meet other players for doubles matches. The Elemis Spa is located in an 18th Century plantation house and offers a wide range of health and beauty treatments. The spa’s patio is set amongst the tropical gardens and houses a hydrotherapy tub, massage area and a swimming pool that is used for aqua aerobics, providing a tranquil setting for indulging in a facial or a massage. Dining is on the terrace most evenings, to the sound of the sea lapping the shore behind you, or to soft calypso or jazz. A casual beach barbecue is held on a Monday, and on Fridays guests can enjoy a Jamaican night. The bar was inspired by Ralph Lauren, who has a private villa on the property, with Jamaican mahogany chairs that are stylishly complemented by black and white striped soft furnishings, providing relaxed and comfortable surroundings in which to enjoy a drink as the sun sets. There are twenty-seven villas at Round Hill, which are set on the hillside and can be rented in their entirety or as separate suites. Most of the villas have their own private swimming pool. The Pineapple House is situated closer to the beach and houses the hotel rooms, which are set on two floors and are spacious and airy, overlooking the main pool and the ocean. Round Hill creates a truly relaxing ambience that brings together elegance, tradition and timeless style.
