Piemonte lies at the foot of the Alps in Italy’s most famous wine producing region and produces some of Italy’s most noble and respected wines, notably the world-famous Barolo and Barbaresco wines. Famous too for its truffles, castles and hidden treasures this is a region where you can fully begin to appreciate the great wines of Italy.
The hot, dry climate of Tuscany is perfect for the Sangiovese vineyards which produce the famous Chianti wines we all appreciate. There are many different wine-producing regions – and wines - in Tuscany for you to appreciate. From the great Chianti Classicos to the Brunellos and new Super Tuscan wines, we can introduce you to private estate owners who are passionate about their wines and who will help you to appreciate their fine Italian wines in style.
In the province of Verona, not far from Lake Garda, can be found the Valpolicella wine producing region – known locally as the ‘pearl of Verona’. Here you can appreciate many different wine varieties, from the light and fruity Valpolicella wines to the more strongly flavoured Amarone della Valpolicella, the most important wine of this region as well as the delicious recioto dessert wine.
The internationally recognized Orvieto white wine from Umbria is appreciated by wine-lovers from all over the world, but there are many more wines from Umbria waiting to be discovered and appreciated too such as the Sagratino di Montefalco and the Torgiano rosso.
The green fertile lands of Umbria also produce delicious olive oils, and a visit to this region would not be complete without also tasting olive oils and visiting the Olive Oil Museum in Torgiano.
