Eco tourism
‘Eco-tourism’ has become a by-word for responsible travel and Expressions Holidays has been creating bespoke holidays that are conducted in a responsible and sensitive way for more than twenty years.
As an eco-tourist with us, you will be privileged to visit some of the world’s most treasured and fragile areas such as the Great Barrier Reef of Australia, the Mayan sites of Mexico and the delicately balanced island communities of the Indian Ocean. We believe that to travel to the world’s most protected environments - where the local flora, fauna and cultural heritage are the primary attractions, is a privilege, not a right. We are keenly aware of the need to preserve these environments for the benefit of and enjoyment by future generations, and it is important to us that wherever possible we try to create additional benefit for the local communities. We ask you to play your part by ensuring nothing is taken away apart from your photos and your memories.
In this way, we hope that you will appreciate more fully the devastating impact human intervention can have. You will also see many positive examples of the benefits of eco-tourism, where humans have created positive change, for example, in hotels and lodges where recycling, the efficient use of energy and water conservation are an integral part of daily life.
